What is A World Craft Fair?

A World Craft Fair is an internet website that is dedicated to promoting the small artist and craft business. The website was created by David Smith who enjoy not only buying high quality art and craft items, but also created websites to resale them. My goal is to form a community of artisans and crafters from all around the world to offer their creations using the Internet. Having a background in building websites and a love of arts and crafts allows me to realize this dream.     Back

How do I shop?

Just click on one of the web links in the craft fair to begin!  If you want further details or wish to purchase any of the items presented, just click on the item name to get more information or to put an item in your shopping cart.     Back

How does the shopping cart work?

The shopping cart is used to keep track of items you would like to purchase. You may put an item in your shopping cart at any time and when you are done shopping, just click on ‘Shopping Cart’ to review what you have selected.
You may then review the items in your cart, make any adjustments to quantity of the items and then proceed to checkout.

What if my items don't show up in my shopping cart?

You must be setup to allow cookies. We do not use cookies for anything except track your shopping cart number. If you need to change this setting in Internet Explorer, click on the Tools, then Internet Options, then click on the Privacy tab and click on the Edit button on the bottom of the window. Make sure www.aworldcraftfair.com is set to an 'always allow' setting. If you are still having problems, please contact me.     Back

An item that is listed as 'temporarily unavailable', what does that mean?

This means that item is out of stock at the moment, but should be available soon. Please check back if it is an item you are interested in. The artisan will post more of the item when available. Or, send us an email to let us know you’d like to be notified if one becomes available. We’ll keep you posted as to availability.     Back

An item is showing as 'no longer available', what does that mean?

This means that the item has sold out and that the artisan will not be making anymore like it or it may have even been a one-of-a-kind item. You may wish to look at other items that this artisan offers, as there may be something similar you are interested in.     Back

What is my costs to be part of A World Craft Fair if I don't have a website?

If you put your crafts on our website you get your own page under your category and country heading, we charge a one time setup charge of $65 to cover the costs of putting your items on A World Craft Fair plus an annual fee of $14.95 to cover ongoing expenses for advertising. When we sell an item for you, we take the difference between your wholesale price and our retail price as our sales mark-up.

My goal is to limit financial burden and risk for you. By sending your pictures to us digitally, you avoid any additional charges. An additional charge of $2.00 per picture is applied if I need to scan your pictures.

How should I price my items if I don't have a website?

I want you to make the same profit with me as you do at a craft fair so pricing your item is basically as simple as determining its wholesale price. We will increase your wholesale price by 20% to determine the retail amount on our website.

The wholesale price of your item should include the costs of your supplies, labor and overhead in the creation of the item. It should also include a reasonable profit to you. Time and money spent to sell the item should not be incorporated into the wholesale price since this is what A World Craft Fair is doing for you. This expense would be considered part of the difference between the wholesale and retail price of the item.

As an example, suppose you go to a show and price your item at $25. This amount, the $25, should be the retail price you need to charge to cover not only the making of the item and your profit, but it should also include an amount that will offset the expense of selling the item at a show (e.g. travel to and from show, setup, your time at show, your time to pack, unpack, and repack your items, cost of booth etc). When selling this item at wholesale, you may be able to charge only $15 because you would no longer be incurring the cost of going to a show. Think of all the time and energy you will be saving!

Shipping and handling charges should be listed separately from the retail price of the item. A World Craft Fair does not take a percentage of the shipping and handling amount, it is there to cover the costs for you to pack and ship your items safely to your new customer.

Please note that we at A World Craft Fair assume the prices you charge at a craft fair are retail prices. That is to say that you have added the appropriate percentage to your item's wholesale price to compensate for the additional costs incurred by attending the show. This helps to keep our prices close (if not the same) and also benefits you, the artisan or crafter, by making sure you are compensated for the extra costs you incur in that kind of a selling process.

Are there any hidden costs involved?

No costs are hidden. Our 20% mark-up on the items you sell covers the cost we incur for advertising the site, hosting the site and continuing to improve it. Please note that all artisan fees are non-refundable.        Back

How do I get Paid?

You will receive your payment directly into your pay-pal account 10 days following the date of the sale. We wait 10 days to avoid any conflicts when dealing with refunds. Once the money is in your pay-pal account, you will be able to transfer the funds into your personal bank account. No waiting for any cheques in the mail and no need to go to your bank to deposit any cheques!     Back

What is your return policy?

Our policy states that we accept returns from the customer within 7 days of the item's original ship date.
We require the customer to contact us to get a Return Number. We will then have them ship the item directly back to you. We will deduct the wholesale price of the returned item from your next payment. If your next payment isn't large enough to cover the return, we will contact you and work out a payback plan.
We require that any items returned be in the original packing and are re-sellable as returned. If this is not the case, contact us and we will work with the customer and you to resolve any dispute.

Back

When do I have to ship the product?

We require shipment within 4 business days of the payment verification, except in rare situations or if the item is identified on the site as made to order or personalized. We expect that your inventory matches what you have stated on the web site. This will enable quick shipment. Please let us know if you have any situations that may prevent this and we will work with you and the customer to be sure expectations are set.      Back

How do I sign up?

E-mail me  and I will send you all information needed to get started!     Back

How do I get pictures to you?

Pictures can be e-mailed to us, sent to us on CD, diskette or as actual photos. There is a charge of $2.00 per picture for any actual photos sent that need to be scanned. If they are in digital format, there is no charge. If you wish to have your CD, diskette, or photos returned to you, please indicate that to us and include a self-addressed stamped envelope/diskette mailer/CD mailer to cover mailing charges.      Back

How do I update my items?

You can change the information about an item at any time although A World Craft Fair reserves the right to review and adjust item information as it deems necessary.         Back

How often can I update my items?

You may update your item information at any time.     Back

What if I don't have any inventory?

If you do not have any items to be sold at a given time, we can put you on hold. This simply means that you will still be able to add items at a future day, but do not have to signup again to be part of A World Craft Fair. We will keep an artisan on hold for up to 4 months before deleting your web page. If you need to remain on hold longer, please contact us directly and we can discuss your specific situation.      Back

What if I am away and cannot ship orders within 4 days?

If you will not be able to ship orders within 4 days, then notify us. We can then put you 'on hold' for a specified period of time. For example, you have a vacation planned for 7/5 through 7/31. We would place you on hold from 7/1 - 7/31 and all your items would display as temporarily not available. This message would automatically be removed on 7/31 and your customers would be able to order once again.     Back

What if I can't ship an item that was ordered?

Sometimes, due to unforeseen circumstances an item is not available as stated on the website. Please contact us immediately if for some reason this is the situation and you cannot ship an item within the 4 day period specified. We will work with you and the customer to determine options available.     Back

What type of advertising does A World Craft Fair do?

A World Craft Fair advertises the site by visiting events where we can hand out cards and promotional items to potential shoppers. We also advertise in news papers around the world. We spend 30% of your craft fair fee on advertising to bring thousands of shoppers to our website. Please remember that our best advertising comes from word of mouth. Be sure to tell your family, friends and arts and craft show customers about A World Craft Fair.com     Back

What if I don't want to be part of A World Craft Fair any longer?

You may discontinue your association with A World Craft Fair at any point in time. To do so, please email me and let me know. I do expect you to complete any open orders and please note that all artisan fees are non-refundable.    Back

Do I have to be a business to be part of A world Craft Fair?

No, however, I ask that you list a name - company or your name - so customers can easily find you again.    Back

What technology is needed to be part of A World Craft Fair?

None, if you try it alone you'll need to have a domain name and a hosting server. You will also have to design, upload and maintain your site. Computer graphics and Internet knowledge are a must. You will have to learn about file sizes and image optimization so your site loads quickly. And don't forget that you'll have to promote, cross-link, and get search engine rankings so people can get to your web site. You can do it but it's going to take a lot of work! Or let us do it for you.

We supply complete website design, setup and a web-address without you having to learn any new computer skills.   Back
